You Can Teach an Old Dog New Tricks
I’m always amazed each week at how far I’ve come already in my journey to a healthier me. I’ve realized in the past week, that it doesn’t take much food before I feel full—and I’m really starting to believe that I’m making life-long changes that will last.
When I think back to when I started this program in mid-may, I had no idea how I was ever going to be able to change the habits that I’d been so accustomed to with my busy schedule—eating out every night because I was so busy….eating high fat, high calorie foods because they were quick and easy to grab…..and letting everything get in the way of exercise. I look at how far I’ve come and realize how I’ve changed. I know it’s said that it takes just 30 days to develop a new habit—and interestingly, I hadn’t realized until the last couple days how things have changed. I live life a little differently, always trying to be active in some way. I eat only when I have to, and don’t allow myself to get overly hungry. I snack on healthy foods—and I’m really not “counting” calories per se. I keep an “eye” on the approximate number of calories—but to make this a lifetime change, I have to make this “real life”.
That being said…..I’m heading out today to spend time at Rock Cut State Park until Sunday for another “workout weekend.” I plan to get as much mountain biking, hiking, and road biking in as I can—or as the heat will allow. We’re just going to have to get up earlier in the morning and head out. But it won’t be all work and no play……we’re heading to Magic Waters on Thursday for a little relaxation! Healthy foods are packed and ready to go! I have my Advocare rehydrating drinks—which seem to give me the energy I need during longer, harder workouts. I suspect the drinks will help even more so during this hot weather!
In the meantime…..I’m happy to report that I lost another 2 lbs this week! Rock on, Rockton!
